An early 19th century cottage imbued with exquisite charm and authentic character, nestled within a picturesque village backdrop. This was a project that inspired me with a desire to rejuvenate its historical attributes within a modern context.
The decoration is intentionally simple, with a neutral colour palette throughout to promote the dramatic impact created by the wooden timber beams. As you move through the house, the rooms have different personalities that are brought to life by flashes of olive green, chalky yellow and a cobalt blue wallpaper, block printed in India. Pieces dating from the 18th and 19th centuries sourced from Belgium and West Asia add a sense of timelessness.
